Today we’ll cover the thirteenth key, Learn From Adversity And Defeat. “Look for the seed of an equivalent benefit in every defeat you experience.” We will all have setbacks, it is a fact of life, and necessary for our growth. The person who never experiences defeat, never really tries.
Thomas Edison had 10,000 lightbulbs that didn’t work before he got one that did! Can you imagine having that much feedback and continuing with your purpose? That is a burning desire, and exemplifies all we’ve been discussing.
Defeat, setbacks, adversity, all can make us stronger. These events provide information and ideas to make us, our project, and our outcome better, stronger, more resilient, and more creative. I’m not saying that you should court defeat, but recognize it for the gifts that it might bring. Hill lists 25 major causes of personal failure. Do you see something that strikes a cord in you?
