I’ve been very child-like recently. I am anticipating Christmas. Yes, I still believe in Santa Clause, love the decorations, the excitement, the lights, the foods, the sharing. It is one of my favorite times of the year.
I went shopping yesterday in several stores, including Wal-Mart. All were crowded with shoppers, people in a hurry, with focused purpose. The isles were especially congested. I willingly let others pass me, smiling at them. I made every effort to be courteous, shine a big smile, verbally wish them well, or at least mentally send out that wish for love, abundance and good to them. My experience was that most folks smiled back, and extended courtesy, also. Yes, it took me a few minutes longer, but I wasn’t stressed, ill, or otherwise distressed. I actually enjoyed the experience!
I got home and unpacked everything, took care of my dinner and spent a few minutes checking emails and Facebook. My daughter works at a Wal-Mart in OH, and she had posted the following:
“This afternoon, around 3:30pm, a gentleman came through my line. He seemed a bit standoffish, perhaps a little cranky, so I made sure to help him quickly and without a lot of extra chatter. He bought $450 worth of toys and gift cards; 7 $25 cards.
He took six of the cards, and handed me the last one, telling me to use it to pay for the lady behind him who had a handful of WIC coupons.
I was speechless, and kinda sorta teared up. I waited until he was a fair distance away, then handed the card to her and told her it was from the gentleman in front of her. She started to run off to chase him down and return it, but I stopped her and told her it was for her. I think she was a little teary too.
So, thank you Sir, whoever you are, for your generosity and holiday spirit. Many blessings to you. She did not use the card for her purchases, as she had already signed the coupons, but mentioned that she could get her kids some Christmas.”
Yes, I had tears too while reading it. I also blessed that wonderful man for giving my daughter such a wonderful gift, and blessed her for sharing that wonderful gift with so many others and me. Generosity is such a gift and returns to us 10-fold. So, I am sharing my love and the love of an unknown gentleman in OH with you.
