It is a foggy fall morning in the NC Mountains. The trees are vibrant in their changing colors. Fall is officially in full swing. Halloween is upon us, Thanksgiving and Christmas following closely. All these changes seem to come too quickly for me as I get older. As a child, the seasons, and especially the holidays, seems so very far apart – such a long wait. Now it seems they are bumping into one another and I have to remember to slow down and really pay attention to enjoy each in its’ own time.
I too am changing, sometimes more frequently, faster than I realize. Changes are not always easy, sometimes not welcomed, and often scary. Some go by in a second, so fast that we hardly notice. Are you paying attention? Do you miss the subtle changes in life? I make it a habit to pay attention. Using all my senses to savor a moment with nature, a friend, a task, an activity, even a thought is a way I can capture and be aware of my NOW.
Try to capture the moments in your life today.
